Diamond car insurance for women?!?

Q) What is with that advert "Diamond Car Insurance for Women"? Women are meant to be the safest drivers. According to statistics, the only reason people think women are safer drivers is because they make a claim on their boyfriends/husbands car insurance when they have an accident. I am most certainly not a sexist male and I am all for equality but I just think it's unfair to have a car insurance just for women and try to make out like men are terrible drivers. I mean imagine the uproar if there were a car insurance company JUST for men (before the diamond insurance was available) ? What are your views on this people?

A) Women have just as many claims as men The difference is most Women's claims are for low speed 'dings' with no one else involved other than an occasional gate post. Most men's claims involve a third party and a major claim, So get a higher risk element to their premiums.

Diamond car insurance advert?

Q) Who else finds it annoying? When the woman says 'Who does your car insurance?' And the blonde woman sings and dances, why cant she just say Diamond, here's the number.... BAM! Whats with the dodgy dancing and her fang teeth?!! I love to hate that advert! do you find this advert annoying? Chris W.. i know what you mean about that 'josh dad's found your scooter' She was shouting down the know as well!! That poor rep on the other end of the phone, he/she must be off with tinnitus!!

A) aaaaaarrgh i hate that advert. it is sooo catchy and annoying. and i mute the horrible "dads found ya scoota" woman!!!!!!

A) I don't know, but she makes me wanna poke her eyes out. Irritating cow.

Is Diamond Car Insurance for women being sexist?

Q) Never really thought about until now and I guess it is. But do us guys really give a ****? If a guy is sexist all the women get up in arms. If a women is sexist we don't really bother. It aint worth the nagging and moaning. Womens rights and all that p***!

A) nope! because women are the safest drivers and they should be rewarded for it!

How is it that Shiela's Wheels and Diamond Car insurance are allowed to make blatantly sexist claims?

Q) Whether women are the better drivers or not is not the point, and I dont want to start an arguement about that. I have my opinion and everyone else probably has theirs. I am wondering why, with all the politically correct crap flying about these days, these companies can advertise their products in such a way that is completely sexist. If anyone wants my opinion, it is this: Men cant be arsed to complain about it so nobody asks them to take it off our screens! I'm not complaining about it, far too petty, I'm just curious as to how they get away with it! Their marketting team should flag something up to say "hang on, this could be a bit dodgy you know?"

A) It's because sex discrimination and age discrimination laws only apply to employment, not the delivery of services - so a service can target one particular sex or age group quite legally. Just think, if age discrimination applied to services, they would have to allow 40 year olds into playgroups....mind you, I could name some 40 year olds who would be too immature!

A) no its not her, looks like her tho.

Why don't they have car insurance just for blokes?

Q) After all we have Shelias Wheels, Diamond etc. They could call it Bruce's Tyres. Or would that be sexist?

A) Bruce's tyres! Ha! good one.... I don't think it would be sexist, but i wouldn't think you'd save much compared to a ladies-only policy. Ok, women are safer drivers. But surely that statistic is based on the fact that when families go out at the weekend or in the evening the Dad is the person most likely to drive and there are potentially more people on the road during these times. I know this may sound sexist but a lot of women (or more accurately mothers of small children) will drive more during the day when the roads are quieter, hence less risk of accident, hence lower risk. Ok, it's a long shot but you get the point..... You're right though, insurance companies have cashed in on women-only and older-driver (40+) policies. Be careful though, i know of a few girls who have been roped in to these only to find their insurance isn't very competitive in the 2nd/3rd year as they know you'll assume they're still the cheapest. Always good to shop around a bit!

Can I sue Sheilas Wheels for being sexist?

Q) That car insurance company that does car insurance for women only? There's another one called Diamond Car Insurance as well. Could you just imagine the reaction if somebody started up an insurance firm for men only? We would never hear the end of it!

A) You can sue anyone for anything now a days, you could sue coca cola because the colour red offends you. xxx

has anyone seen that women in every single advert going?

Q) Am I going completely mad, or is there this one women in all adverts I watch? I think she was in the early diamond car insurance adverts where she had come back from clothes shopping, a hygienic hand spray advert involving another women with a sink on a train, a heinz baby food advert with babies passing notes, and a crunchy nut advert where a man in asking her questions about the 'crunchy almonds and oats' or something. it's one of these things that has been annoying me for a while, please, am I going mad, or has anyone else noticed? :)

A) no your not going mad ive noticed her also.. the reason i noticed her is the fact that she really annoys me for some reason.. that smarmy smile pehaps.. she just bugs the hell out ov me for no major reason.. xx

Insurance is WAY too high...help!?

Q) I am 19, female and have just passed my driving test ... however, the cheapest insurance I have found is £1400 :( I have tried all of the companies who are on tv...admiral is the cheapest, norwich union and theives (almost 4 grand for a fiat punto!!), sheilas wheels and diamond are expensive too. Does anyone have any suggestions of cheap car insurance providers?

A) i am with bell direct and i have full no claims when i bought my wife a car i put her with the same company and they matched my bonus. it helps if you can put even you dad on your insurance as a named driver.

Diamond car insurance and Sheilas wheels? Why are they so sexist?

Q) I keep seeing those adverts and find it rather sexist that they are for women only. I mean if there was a man only car insurance company it would be slammed by women saying that is sexist and be shut down. i dont understand why they can get away with it and males cannot. Also its not just sexist against men. They both use things like awful songs slamming how women are great and superior, and in Sheilas wheels, use pink and blondes and other stupid things. Do they think all women are bimbos that love awful jingles about how they are better than the other sex, and having pink and other stuff there? i dont understand why these adverts are allowed to be here

A) The ads target women and is based on the perception that they can sell more insurance if the women relate to the "superiority" over men. I agree with you that this is sexist and in bad taste. But the ads will continue till the women realize the inherent manipulation and stop responding. cc
